The 37th year of Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido can be concluded on a positive note with pride and confidence. The international successes that characterised 2024 deserve special mention. A key milestone was the introduction of Timo Gartner’s new training concept, which focuses specifically on self-protection for women. This initiative was not only well received, but also won the Schifferstadt Lions Club sponsorship award in its very first year. Another highlight was the ‘Nicht-mit-mir – Schütz dich vor Gewalt’ (Don’t be with me – protect yourself from violence) courses, which are always fully booked and for which we were also able to train two new instructors this year. The Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido trainer school was also intensively promoted: New assistants started their training, which promotes the long-term development and quality assurance of our training programme. Despite the possibilities and opportunities, the first Health and Exercise Day in Limburgerhof fell far short of expectations due to a lack of local interest and support. On the international front, two samurai camps were organised in Sri Lanka, one in May and another in December. This laid the foundations for the expansion of additional schools, which are to be further developed in the coming years. A particular highlight of these samurai camps were the belt examinations, during which Dilnika Ashna Soysa and Suvindu Nileka Thilakarathne proudly passed their 4th Kyu (blue) belt examinations. Shenal Fernando and Kaushalya Nirmana successfully passed the examination for 1st Dan (black). This testifies to the high quality of training and commitment of our members. A special honour was bestowed on Christian Wiederanders, who was also inducted into the Hall of Fame in Sri Lanka by the Sportbund in addition to receiving the golden badge of honour – in recognition of his outstanding achievements and merits in Tatsu-Ryu Bushido and martial arts internationally. In Limburgerhof, the first Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido club, which was founded in 1991, there have also been significant changes. As it had previously been difficult to create a stable base and find suitable premises, a new board took over responsibility. Together with members from Mutterstadt, a new association is now being founded to offer the tradition and values of Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido elsewhere. The base remains the big goal with its own premises, but where remains to be seen! In conclusion, it can be said that there was a pleasing increase in membership at the end of 2024. It was also possible to adapt the two EU regulations, such as mandatory e-invoicing from €250 gross and the EU Product Safety Regulation, which once again required more effort. It is particularly noteworthy that numerous families have decided to become members of Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido. This shows the growing interest and positive response to our work and programmes. Looking to the future, we look forward to continuing and expanding the successes and developments of Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido together.
