An action-packed morning was on the programme for the children at the JUKUZ Limburgerhof holiday care centre: On 7 August 2026, the young athletes gathered for a special martial arts training session. The session was led by Christian Grünert and Martin Paetz from Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido. Even before the official start, curiosity was running high, and the children engaged the two coaches in a lively question-and-answer session. The subsequent round of introductions was not just about getting to know one another, but also about fundamental questions: What distinguishes pure self-defence from traditional martial arts? As well as the techniques, important rules of conduct were discussed. The coaches made it clear that what they had learnt requires discipline, must only be practised under supervision, and has no place in the school playground. After the theoretical introduction, it was time to get down to business. An energetic movement game provided the necessary warm-up before light combat exercises and correct rolling techniques were on the training programme. The final part was a particular highlight: following a detailed briefing on the safe handling of traditional training weapons, the children took part in their first exciting training session with the sword. Filled with enthusiasm, physical activity and new experiences, a thoroughly successful morning came to an end – one that is sure to remain in the memories of everyone involved for a long time to come!
