On Saturday, 12 July 2025, six intrepid Bushidoka met in summer temperatures for training in the forest. The meeting point was a forest car park near Bad Dürkheim – the destination was Limburg. The training began with an ascent, moving as a group, including climbing a rope to scale a small rock face. This was no problem for TRB companion dog Mona or her two-legged friends. The forest training sessions in Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido (TRB) accompany the training of the students to teach them how to treat nature with respect and equip them with useful outdoor knowledge. This involves movement in the terrain, camouflage, tracking – but also practical examples such as building a stretcher to transport an injured person. The actual training then began on the plateau not far from Limburg. The focus of the day was on working with the jo (medium-length stick) and using the jo against a sword (in training with a wooden sword: bokken). Training with weapons is more demanding in the field than in the sports hall, as you have to cope with distractions such as noise, sunlight and obstacles such as trees and uneven ground. As a special treat, there was also a lesson with bo-shuriken (Japanese throwing weapons). After three hours, an exhausting and varied session came to an end. The next course will take place on 12 August 2025 (registration to follow)!
