On Tuesday, 20 May 2025, intensive training took place in the dojo in Mutterstadt in preparation for the upcoming first entrance examinations on 3 June 2025 in the Rundsporthalle in Mutterstadt. Under the guidance of Sensei-Ho Fabian Birkle, the focus was on the comprehensive teaching of possible examination content, such as dojo etiquette, as well as the elements and virtues that are of central importance in Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido. A fundamental component is dojo etiquette, which promotes respectful behaviour towards one another. Seito learn how important it is to behave appropriately when entering and leaving the dojo and to show respect towards the teacher and fellow students. This includes bowing when greeting, but also, especially in the examination situation, greeting the examiners correctly, in an order that takes into account the grade of the respective examiner. Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido training combines physical and mental training. Sensei-Ho Fabian explained the theoretical content of the belt colours, the kyu and dan grades, the cherry blossoms, the 5 elements and the 7 virtues of the samurai. He provided background information on Miyamoto Musashi, one of the most famous samurai and swordsmen in Japanese history, and shared exciting anecdotes about Musashi’s battles and his teachings. Overall, the training was a valuable preparation for the upcoming belt examinations. The Seito left the dojo with a stronger understanding of the principles and techniques of Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido and are now well equipped to demonstrate their skills.
