In the first half of 2025, Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido continued to be active on an international level and was able to deepen its principles of teaching and learning in several countries. In addition to the tried and tested online training sessions, reciprocal on-site training visits are also being organised and are still being planned to promote the exchange of techniques, training methods and cultural elements. Despite these challenges, there are advantages that such a regular format can offer. A biennial seminar or training can be designed as an intensive event that allows participants to dive deep into specific topics rather than just an irregular exchange once a year or every two years.
The journey from Frankfurt to New York, USA, covers an impressive 6,199 km, which corresponds to a flight duration of 8 hours and a time difference of 6 hours (summer time) backwards. This illustrates the distance and dedication invested in this exchange. Similarly, the journey to Colombo, Sri Lanka, with 8,075 km, a 10-hour flight and a 3.5-hour time difference (summer time) to the front, is a significant challenge that emphasises the connection between the practitioners.
Cultural exchange plays a central role in these international encounters. Limburgerhof, a small town in Rhineland-Palatinate Germany, represents more than just the Japanese martial art of samurai; it is about creating a network characterised by mutual respect and understanding. Since the revival of Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido in Kenya in 2022, an international network has developed that has already spawned numerous activities. Particularly noteworthy is the progress made in Sri Lanka, where Christian Wiederanders, head of Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido, was on site for the third time in 10 months in March 2025 and more are in the pipeline. The regular online training sessions since 2023 and visits have helped to further educate and motivate practitioners on site. Among other things, a trip to the USA was planned for May 2025, which also offered many exciting opportunities.

But that’s not all: there are also plans to travel to other countries in 2025 and 2026. The diversity of cultures and techniques that will be exchanged as part of these international activities promises to further enrich Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido. It therefore remains exciting to see how international relations and learning within the community will develop.
