Today, 4 April 2025, Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido celebrates its impressive 38th anniversary. This is an occasion not only to celebrate, but also to take a look back at the fascinating development of this martial art nationally and internationally.
1987-1990: Our roots in nature: On 4 April 1987, it all began with ambitious training that took place exclusively in the great outdoors. These first five years were characterised by an intensive examination of the principles of Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido, in direct contact with nature and the elements.
1991-1994: Founding of the first association: On 21 January 1991, the first association, Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido Limburgerhof e.V., was officially launched. This step provided the basis for a structured community and promoted the growth and dissemination of the philosophy and techniques of Bushido.
1998-2000: Departure for the German Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido Kai: In the years 1998 to 2000, the German Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido Kai e.V. was founded, which served as a link between different associations and created a platform for exchange and mutual learning.
2001-2004: The first Bushido Gala: The popularity of the style was further consolidated with the first Bushido Gala and the founding of further associations between 2001 and 2004. These events made it possible to introduce different facets of Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido to a wider audience.
2005-2007: Internationalisation of Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido: In the years 2005 to 2007, Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido experienced a significant international boom. Through networking with international partners, the style was able to spread worldwide.
2007: A year of upheaval: In 2007, a decisive change took place that brought with it new perspectives and challenges. This led to a stronger focus on the further development and adaptation of the training.
2008-2010: Cultural trips to Japan: From 2008 to 2010, two cultural and group trips to Japan were organised, offering members the opportunity to gain deeper insights into the origins of Bushido. During this time, membership of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) was also sought.
2011-2013: Summer trips to new horizons: The years 2011 to 2013 were marked by the Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido summer trips, which included destinations such as Gran Canaria, Turkey and Kos. These trips offered not only sporting but also cultural experiences.
2014-2017: Awards and numerous events: In the years 2014 to 2017, numerous events were held, which were honoured with a total of five awards. This confirmed the quality and influence of Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido on the community.
2018-2019: ‘Sports Club 2020’ project: The implementation of the ‘Sports Club 2020’ project in 2018 and 2019 marked an important step into the future, with the aim of further expanding the club’s structures.
2020-2021: Online training in times of pandemic: During 2020 and 2021, more than 350 online training sessions were held, with more than 2,500 participants. This innovative approach ensured that training could continue despite the pandemic-related restrictions.
2022: Digital platform and anniversary: In 2022, a new digital platform was launched with the aim of strengthening the community online. At the same time, the 35th anniversary of Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido was celebrated. Kenya resumes training!
2023: Expansion of international cooperation: The year 2023 brought new offers and expanded cooperation, including with Sri Lanka, to increase the international reach of the association.
2024: Self-defence for women and samurai camps: In 2024, the focus was on self-defence courses for women and the founding of new associations. In addition, two samurai camps were launched in Sri Lanka, complemented by the inauguration of a Hall of Fame.
2025: Continuation of the Samurai Camps and Royale Award: The third Samurai Camp in Sri Lanka will take place in 2025, while Christian Wiederanders will receive the Royale Award for his services. The international expansion of Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido continues and consolidates its place on the global stage.
