Timo Gartner and Thorsten Klein visited the Carl Bosch Gymnasium in Limburgerhof on 9 November 2025 to deliver an excellent introductory and basic course on self-defence using the tactical pen. Even participants who had already attended a TRB self-defence course on several occasions were able to gain new insights, and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. A special highlight was an experiment on the effect on the target: a piece of meat, tape and fabric were used to simulate a body. The participants were surprised to see that even with very little force, clearly visible marks appeared under the fabric and deep in the tissue through the ‘skin’ – even though the fabric was not perforated. There were exercises under the pressure of attacks and lots of tips on how to remain capable of acting. The basics of posture, self-protection, drawing tactical aids, what to do if that doesn’t work, and escape were explored in depth and repeated over and over again. On 23 November 2025, there will be another basic self-defence course for women, as well as a refresher course for participants who have already attended a basic course.
