Muscles are the foundation of good posture and a flexible body. That is why targeted strength training is an integral part of Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido training – and, of course, of our seniors’ group in Neuhofen. On Friday, 22 May 2026, trainer Rolf Polke visited us to lead an engaging, participatory full-body workout. The session focused on all the major muscle groups: legs, abs, chest, back and shoulders. The senior citizens showed great enthusiasm and participated wholeheartedly in every exercise. Our head coach, Christian Wiederanders, was also there. He emphasised the particular importance of this strength training for one’s own health and encouraged everyone, especially as they get older, to actively work on their physical fitness. He stressed that it is important to always measure oneself against one’s own progress rather than that of others, as everyone has their own pace and individual circumstances. The training programme is designed so that it can be practised not only during the sessions but also at home. This keeps the muscles strong and provides long-term support for good posture and mobility. At the end, everyone expressed their heartfelt thanks for the fantastic and motivating training session. It was another step towards staying fit, healthy and mobile – a benefit for every single participant.

Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido as a means of fall prevention: An effective measure for preventing falls in older people: Fall prevention encompasses all measures aimed at preventing falls and reducing the consequences of falls, particularly among older people. As we age, the risk of falls increases due to balance problems, muscle loss and reduced coordination. It is therefore particularly important to integrate preventive strategies into daily life. Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido is a traditional Japanese martial art that not only teaches self-defence techniques but also improves body awareness, balance and flexibility. Targeted training in Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido strengthens coordination, muscle strength and reaction times – key factors in preventing falls. The exercises also promote concentration and awareness of one’s own posture, which helps to identify and avoid tripping hazards at an early stage. Furthermore, improved physical fitness can boost self-confidence, helping older people feel more secure and agile. In summary, Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido is an effective complement to traditional fall prevention programmes. It combines physical strengthening with mental training, thereby providing long-term support in preventing falls and their consequences in old age.
