Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido was delighted to receive a special invitation to a special anniversary course at the beginning of 2025. Gerhard Jung, 8th Dan Jiu-Jitsu, had his 50th anniversary in Budo to celebrate – 50 years on the mat, that’s a word! To mark this festive occasion, we travelled to Rockenhausen on Saturday 17 May 2025, where we spent a whole day learning exciting techniques on the topics of self-defence. Knife, short stick, levers and throws from Jiu-Jitsu. And in great company, because Gerhard was supported by Harald Westrich, 7th Dan Jiu-Jitsu, Andreas Grote 7th Dan Jiu-Jitsu, and Klaus Schmidt, 5th Dan Jiu-Jitsu, 3rd Dan Modern Arnis, and many clubs travelled from Germany, not only from the Palatinate, but also from Bavaria, where Gerhard began his martial arts career. Over the years, he has founded several clubs and led dojos – he is currently at home in the Jiu-Jitsu-Karate Rockenhausen e.V. club, where he teaches a very practical approach to Jiu-Jitsu and karate for self-defence. Although karate means ‘empty hand’, we did not miss the opportunity to present Gerhard with a small gift. Saiko Shihan Christian Wiederanders, who was travelling abroad, also sent his best wishes. After the course, the participants joined Martin Paetz and Rich Hillmann from the Limburgerhof dojo for a convivial dinner and lively discussion at the Pfälzer Hof in Rockenhausen.
