Training experiences at Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido in Ragama, Sri Lanka. At the training center in Ragama, Sri Lanka, the opportunity for intensive training is used by many. Here, members train regularly three to six times a week to further develop their Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido skills. In addition to this traditional martial art, various other disciplines such as MMA, Muay Thai kickboxing, yoga and even stuntman training are also offered. A training day can take up to four hours. Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido is mainly led by Senpai Kaushalya Nirmana, who places particular emphasis on weapons training. Here, the techniques are practiced down to the smallest detail so that each student develops in-depth knowledge and precise skills. On December 10 and 11, 2024, the training had a special highlight: Saiko-Shihan Christian Wiederanders from Germany visited the training facilities to get an up-to-date impression of the participants’ progress on site. These visits are a valuable opportunity to learn from the best instructors and receive feedback. Another important aspect of the training is the monthly exchange with Germany, which takes place online. This virtual connection allows participants to share their perspectives and techniques and learn from each other, regardless of geographical distance. There was great excitement when the belt examinations took place on Thursday, December 12, 2024. Some of the candidates had to prove themselves in various disciplines for up to 60 minutes, while their theoretical knowledge was tested at the same time. As the belt level increases, the requirements naturally become more demanding, which was also clearly demonstrated on this examination day. Despite the challenges, all participants successfully passed their exams, although some will have to take part again at a later date to further refine their skills. Of particular note were the belt examinations of Dilnika Ashna Soysa and Suvindu Nileka Thilakarathne, who proudly passed their 4th Kyu (construction) grade. In recognition of their achievement, they received their new Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido clothing – a well-deserved reward for their efforts! These days at the training center in Ragama impressively show how much passion, commitment and community there is in Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido. Keep up the good work!
