The time had finally come! After an exciting preparation period, the starting signal was given for the next samurai camp in the dreamlike setting of Sri Lanka. On December 9, 2020, Saiko-Shihan Christian Wiederanders embarked on a special journey that would take him from Germany alone to an unforgettable experience. He took Qatar Airways from Frankfurt via Doha to Colombo, the lively capital of Sri Lanka. Even on departure, Christian felt the anticipation of the adventure ahead of him. The airline’s Business Class promised pure comfort and luxury – and it kept its promise! The stopover in Doha proved to be a real highlight. Hamad International Airport, known for its state-of-the-art facilities, invited passengers to enjoy a relaxing stay in the elegant lounge. Here, Christian was able to linger in a well-kept, landscaped green garden, which offered a welcome change from the hectic airport operations. The space was generously proportioned and offered numerous places to retreat, ideal for recharging your batteries. Of course, the flight in the Boeing 787-9 was also a pleasure. With plenty of room to relax and an exquisite range of food and drinks, the trip was a culinary delight. From delicious sushi to exquisite wines – the selection left nothing to be desired and pampered the palate throughout the flight. Christian finally landed in Colombo, full of anticipation for what awaited him at the samurai camp. New techniques, immersion in Sri Lankan culture and exchanging ideas with other martial arts enthusiasts were on the program. This journey should not only enrich him physically, but also touch his heart and soul. Thus began another chapter in the life of Saiko-Shihan Christian Wiederanders – an adventure full of challenges, inspiration and community. The anticipation for the days ahead was boundless and the memories of the journey were already unforgettable.
