On Friday, 13 March 2026, the second day of the fully booked ‘Not with Me’ Basic Course No. 37 took place in Limburgerhof at the Carl-Bosch Gymnastics Hall. After the techniques from the first day of the course had been reviewed and practised, the certified course instructors Christian Grünert, Fabian Birkle and Julia Arz demonstrated more advanced techniques for protection against violence. The children practised how to continue defending themselves after falling to the ground. Thanks to the so-called crab technique, they remain capable of acting even on the ground and can free themselves from this situation with a targeted kick to the shin. Throughout, the instructors emphasised how important it is to run away, seek help and get to safety whenever they can escape from such situations. Towards the end, Christian and Julia demonstrated how the children can defend themselves using the tiger claw in an extreme emergency. It is important that the children only use this technique if they see no other option. In the third and final part of the course, the children will practise the tiger claw on a breaking board and perform it themselves.
“Not with me – Protect yourself from violence!” is a multi-award-winning, Germany-wide and nationally standardised prevention, self-assertion and self-defence programme for children and young people. Only trained, licensed and professionally competent course leaders with relevant experience teach the programme to course participants in a manner tailored to their age and target group. This also includes regularly checking that all course leaders hold an extended police certificate of good conduct. The course aims to help children avoid danger, recognise dangerous situations and defend themselves in an emergency. Through our violence prevention project, we aim to help children and young people grow into self-assured, strong individuals.
