For the third time this year, we travelled to Sri Lanka in December 2025 to further develop the martial art of Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido through various workshops. Despite the challenges posed by Cyclone Ditwah, we decided to continue with the training sessions and workshops. The persistent rain was a considerable hindrance, but this did not prevent the motivated participants from actively taking part in the events. On Thursday, 4 December 2025, an open workshop was held, which was attended by over 30 interested parties. This workshop was an excellent opportunity to attract new members to our community. Due to the ongoing expansion of our capacities, not many more people were able to participate in this workshop. Saiko-Shihan Christian Wiederanders was on site to personally lead the training and at the same time prepare for the next Samurai Camp, which will take place from 1 to 5 April 2026. The focus of this workshop was on Japanese sword fighting, especially with the bokken (wooden sword), as well as wooden weapons such as the bo (long stick), tanbo (short stick) and nitanbo (two short sticks). At the end of the workshop, all participants traditionally received their own medal in recognition of their progress and participation. In addition, training measures were carried out for the trainers in order to further improve the quality of the training. We also discussed the approved expansion to a total of three levels, which offers promising prospects for the future. The team on site is doing an excellent job and contributing significantly to our success. The next trip is already planned and will take place from Monday, 30 March to Friday, 10 April 2026 (Easter holidays). The first participants have already registered and we are looking forward to another exciting and educational time in Sri Lanka!
