On Friday, 4 July 2025, further Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido belt examinations took place in the Carl-Bosch-Halle in Limburgerhof. Under the watchful eyes of Saiko-Shihan (Chief Instructor) Christian Wiederanders, not only the adults but also the children were able to demonstrate their skills this time. For many of the young examinees, this was their first exam situation, and it was important to gently introduce them to this new experience. In contrast, the teenagers and adults had the task of demonstrating their techniques with greater precision. We are particularly proud of the Seito who successfully passed their exams. Congratulations to Aneta Stolle, Emily Noack, Joel Reimer, Luisa Asaro and Raphael Walter on passing their 9th Kyu (white-yellow belt) exam. In addition, Amalia Friedel passed the 7th Kyu (white belt with black stripe) exam, and Rolf Polke and Lance Kaleta passed the 6th Kyu (green belt) exam. The two assistant trainers, Rolf Polke and Lance Kaleta, who have been active for some time, have now successfully completed the first stage of their training. The focus of this belt exam was on the theoretical and practical aspects of the element earth (Chi), which is fundamental to the first stage of Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido training. In addition to the unarmed techniques that the two demonstrated in free partner exercises, the examinees were also able to prove their skills with two short sticks (Ni-Tanbo) and the wooden sword (Bokken). They demonstrated two sword katas according to Miyamoto Musashi. Rolf Polke’s freestyle routine was particularly impressive, in which he proudly presented his skills with the two short sticks. Equally remarkable was that Lance Kaleta passed his exam despite an injured shoulder. The belt exams were a good opportunity to see the progress made by the examinees. We congratulate all examinees on their achievements and look forward to further progress in Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido! The next belt exams will take place on 9 August in Sri Lanka!
